About Honu Kids

Connect, create and learn through art therapy

Join Us

Honu Kids is a free, 6 session pilot program that uses art therapy strategies to empower 5-7 year old children and their parents in the form of education, connection and support strategies through creative means.

If your 5-7 year old child struggles with emotional regulation and/or on a clinical assessment waitlist, this program may offer tools to help both at home and at school.

What to Expect

This parent participation program combines fun, art-based activities and education where children and their parents connect, create and play together!

Participation in all sessions is required by both children and parents (this is NOT a drop off class) as well as completing a feedback survey/questionnaire*.

Where to Find Us

Each weekly session lasts 90 minutes and will be facilitated by counselling art therapy practicum students and their supervisors from Adler University at the Music Box in West Vancouver (near John Lawson Park).

Sundays - 10:00AM to 11:30AM

Sessions will take place on:

  • April 6th, 13th, & 27th

  • May 4th, 11th, & 25th

*Information collected will be used confidentially and solely for the purpose of research and/or program improvement.

Mission Statement

Our charity is dedicated to providing creative arts therapies-based programming designed to educate and empower children and their caregivers.

Through early proactive, therapeutic interventions in art, music, dance, and drama, we aim to foster emotional resilience, enhance cognitive development, and promote healthy relationships.

By integrating creative therapies, we support children in navigating challenges and help caregivers build supportive environments that encourage learning, self-expression, and well-being.

About Our Founder

Eve Chang.jpeg

Hi there! My name is Eve Chang and I am the founder of Honu Creative Pathways, a non-profit society (charitable status in progress) that culminates my experiences as a mother, elementary classroom and music teacher, piano teacher, parent volunteer and now an elementary school counsellor.  My diverse lived experiences have consistently confirmed my belief that creative expression can be a powerful form of healing, connection and learning.

Through Honu (Hawaiian for “sea turtle” and symbol for wisdom, guidance and resilience), we provide support for young families facing challenges as well as providing creative  experiences to empower families to grow in resilience and emotional well-being, both as individuals and within the family unit.

I am passionate about giving back in a meaningful and authentic way so that families can thrive together - and what better way than creating, expressing and learning together!
